I like her writing style. She is concise and packs a lot of valuable information into her short novels. This was fast-paced and powerful. When Bethany was forced to face her biggest rival, would her attitude change? The powerfully emotional work grabbed my attention from page one and didn't lose me. I couldn't put the book down." It was not at all how I expected the book to end. The characters were dynamic and believable. I highly recommend this book for all to read. It is even suitable to younger readers.

Reviewer: Dawn (Night & Owl Reviews)
3.5 Stars: "This story was short yet very powerful. It reminded me of how we often misjudge others and fail to take the time to really get to know them. Just as Lilly brought joy and comfort to Bethany's life, we can find joy and comfort in others if only we tear away our "walls" and give people a chance. This story brought tears to my eyes and hope to my soul. Lilly’s Garden is a story offering renewed hope to readers, recharging their hearts and reminding them of God's gift of unconditional love, so that we can try to share that gift with others, too." It’s very well written, the characters are memorable, and the pace is brisk. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll cheer for Emma and Johnny. This book, however, was above and beyond my expectations. The plot was so different from anything I imagined a novel about captivity in Iraq would be. These two characters were brilliantly developed. The way she wrote made me feel as if I was there with them. Her secondary characters were well written and made the storyline multidimensional. The faith in God and the scripture quoted would not be offensive to anyone. It’s obvious that Mendoza knows of which she speaks.

I was totally surprised at the way this book progressed. I loved the book—from Star’s hippy family to Wes’s career military dad. Their friends were supportive and made the calamities comical if not for the seriousness of the debacle.

I highly recommend this book to anyone. It’s a great romance without the sex found in many books. It’s one you can let your daughter read." Anyone having served in the military will be proud of the way she reveals the hardships as well as the joys of military life. Her ability to show spiritual growth in her characters without preaching and their desire to trust in God even in unlikely circumstances indicates a natural knack for faith-filled storytelling at its best. This story definitely made my heart pound in my chest and I couldn’t help but feel fear stricken when Star was taken captive. I was desperately hoping that both Star and Wesley would make it out alive. I found myself fearing for both of their lives. The method used for trying to locate a boyfriend to take home to the family for Christmas was one I’ve not seen addressed in my readings. It was whimsical, typically sad at times, and almost predictable. That did not, however, minimize the entertainment factor. Mendoza did what she does so well and that is to tell a story that is almost impossible to put down.I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a lighthearted read, an inspirational romance or not, and a creative writing style that is both amusing and enjoyable." I loved Daniel and Heather’s friendship together and was so happy to see that they had each other to lean on. The characters came alive for me and I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline the author created. I kept hoping that Heather would find Mr. Right and get over her phobia of committing to a partner for only a few weeks. It is apparent that Ms. Mendoza writes from her heart and the development of her storyline and characters reflect that notion. This is another story from a talented author that I would definitely recommend." My expectation is that it would be the main part and that would have turned me off a bit, honestly. The story was quick paced, funny and believable. She's written Kevin in a strong, believable way...When I had to walk away from the story to attend to 'real life' I simply could not get Kevin and company out of my mind; I couldn't wait to get back to the book! In addition to giving us Kevin and his woes and defeats and triumphs and joys, the author also deftly wraps up some loose ends for the rest of the family members. Her dialogue is excellent, very natural and smooth. Her story telling is seamless. As the story developed it didn’t matter to me that it was aimed at young adults. Her writing made it possible for me to identify with the main character despite him being a fourteen year old boy... She writes a story that is a rollercoaster ride, fast in pace and jam packed with action and character development. I found myself gobbling up this book, eager to see where the next page would take me, loving the hero... This is an enjoyable read no matter what your age, gender and religious beliefs. I can thoroughly recommend it." Teens will resonate with the ubiquitous cliques and camaraderie, as well as the fears and insecurities of Ms. Mendoza's characters."

Reviewer: Valerie (Manic Readers)

"Filled with teenage angst and the common confusion known as growing up, this love story for young adults not only entertains, but teaches some valuable lessons too. Along with a few other lessons I believe that the most important one in this book was about fitting in. Everyone wants to be the most popular kid in school, but what this book teaches is that sometimes it's better to be yourself than to be popular. Seek Ye First My Heart is a great book, especially for teen girls." It was a sweet story. At first, Cassi's selfishness was annoying, but she grew on me as she started to be more open to different types of friendships. I liked seeing her change, but I also liked how Ms. Mendoza showed that a sudden change of heart doesn't erase consequences. And when Cassi really searched and opened up, she found parts of herself that she not only liked, but that gave her purpose and hope for the future."

Oh Brother, You're Not My Keeper Reviews

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_tMoYeNilVkE/R9ROKM_lgYI/AAAAAAAAAWw/jhtAL2Q5kx8/s200/OhBrother_w1230_300.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5175847808949125506" />
Reviewer: Stephanie B. First, it is true to life. I can see this happening, even between sisters. Competition for love can be fierce, regardless of family affiliation. Also, the characters are shown in a realistic light. There is no fairytale falling in love while the lights dim to this. It is typical older teenage behavior. The friends, especially April, are perfectly written. And the ending is a real tearjerker, with a moral and life lessons to be learned. I finished reading this with a smile on my face." For full review, go HERE

Reviewer: Tulip (Long and Short of It Reviews)

Four and a Half Books: "Ms. Mendoza penned an edifying story with highly likeable characters. The myriad of characters allows the reader to get to know each of them. I thought the romance that budded between Melena and Dylan was nicely done. The connection with Cassi gave it a spin allowing the reader to wonder if everything would backfire. Kimberlee R. Mendoza tells a story of love, devotion and family values. For those not used to a Christian bent to the romance, Ms.
Mendoza is never preachy or abundant with the religious overtones. But they are evident and heartfelt. Melena tries to do
right by God but the struggles with Dylan and her sister are real and ones that anyone with sibling rivalry can definitely
relate to. The plot moves quickly and leaves the reader siding with Melena when conflicts arise with her sister, Cassi.
For entire review go HERE.

Reviewer: Jill Williamson (Novel Teen Book Reviews)

Recommended: "I found this story sweet and entertaining. Kimberlee R. Mendoza writes realistic characters in an all-too-realistic situation: sibling rivalry. Even though she doesn’t always succeed—especially when Cassi pushes her too far—Melena always tries to do the right thing, and manages to love her sister despite all the horrible things she does. I turns out that unconditional love is just the thing Cassi needs in her life. This is the first book in the Russell Family series. I’m looking forward to book two." The minor characters are pivotal and certainly add to the story; they make the plot seem even more feasible. She began with a scene on Christmas Eve, 1980, the year Chris would turn 40. She lived, as a spinster, with her next-oldest sister, Marty, around Lake Erie. These two characters were simple, loveable women who lived in their home peacefully with their cat named Mike. The other sisters, their mother, their pastor (from their youth) and their neighbors who tended their garden were all described through her overnight dream of her first 40 years. The tale was extraordinarily told and will provide some shocking, as well as tender and sorrowful, moments.

I loved this fast-paced story and its emotional outcome. Like me, you may think you know how the story will end, but you just might be shocked! Grab it and read it for a quick pick-me-up that will have you searching for other of Ms. Mendoza’s works."

Reviewer: Marlene (Fallen Angel Reviews)

Five Angels: "I loved this short story. Kimberlee Mendoza had my interest from start to finish. A Girl Named Christmas is a tale of second chances. It is well written, heartwarming and definitely something I’ll read again and again. It is a charming slice of life that is entertaining and enlightening. Lively characters, vivid images and an engaging plot all make A Girl Named Christmas by Kimberlee R. Mendoza a great read."
For the full review go to: http://www.fallenangelreviews.com/2007/November/Marlene-AGirlNamedChristmas.htm

Reviewer: Bluegrass Romance Reviews

BRR Recommended Read: "A Girl Named Christmas is a beautiful love story from beginning to end. As Christmas’ relationship with Elijah unfolds, it warmed my heart to see her finally open up and take a chance on love. Ms. Mendoza shows the reality of life, with trials and heartache, through her characters giving them a highly believable quality that her readers will remember long after they read the last page.
